Erika Diaz
Discovering her love of
dance at an early age, Erika Diaz pursued this passion relentlessly
throughout her youth. A Miami native, she took advantage of the city’s rich
cultural diversity and worked with several professional companies throughout
the region. While working towards her BFA in Dance at Florida International
University, Erika began choreographing, teaching dance and managing dance
studios.
During the summer of 2000
Erika moved to Los Angeles where she was the Studio Manager for the
acclaimed Millennium Dance Complex. Within eight months she also became the
Artistic Director of the Junior Program/Arts Academy and for five years she
brought a new level of artistic integrity to the already prestigious
program.
In August of 2005, with a
desire to focus solely on developing the talent and technique of up and
coming young dancers, she opened up E. Motions Dance Center. Based in North
Hollywood, California, E. Motions Dance Center quickly demonstrated its
allure by attracting top teachers and dancers from the area. Erika’s
inventive and original choreography has propelled her loyal students to win
numerous awards at both the regional and national level. In November of 2005
she was awarded DANCE Magazine's Critic Choice Award at the New York City
Dance Alliance Competition.
Her other professional
achievements include choreographing commercials for MTV Latin America,
teaching Master classes throughout the country, and choreographed an
independent feature film “ Feet on Fire”.
With
twelve years of experience under her belt, Erika continues to
enthusiastically display her innovative and unique artistry in the
discipline of Modern Jazz by choreographing, producing and directing
professional dance shows.
